Canicross Adventures

“To run is to be free”

Canicross is a sport that involves dogs running together with their human using a lead, harness and often a belt for the human.

Here at the Dog Adventure Company we have designed courses and a social group to help those interested in doing more activities with their dog. From starter courses helping those new to the sport to get involved to more advanced sessions designed to push individuals that little bit further the sport is open to everyone who wants to get involved!

We have a blended range of skills acquired over the years including dog training, nutrition, sport coaching, mental health awareness training, dog first aid and we continue to work with local professionals such as Dog and Human Physios, Hydrotherapists and Vets to help maintain our own dogs and to help give advice and guidance to owners and their dogs.

Steve has been a Dog Trainer for 15 years and pretty much seen it all in that time. He has specialised in dealing with Anti Social and Reactive Dogs and therefore loves the bond that canicross can develop between an owner and their dog. With a background in Outdoor Pursuits Steve is also a qualified Mountain Leader, former Climbing Instructor as well as Canoeing, Kayaking and Archery.

Anne-Marie is a Teacher by trade and a truely keen Dog Sport enthusiast and has been running with her dogs for many years in different terrains. She regulary runs both socially and competitively and has a passion for getting people into the sport that she loves at the Grass Roots Level.

The Canicross Adventures Crew clubhouse is based at The Dog Adventure Shop in Hockerton near Southwell where we have an extensive range of kit to try on, toilets and access to The Dog Adventure Coffee Bar which is always a bonus after a session!

Canicross Starters

This course is similar to the couch to 5k you may have seen advertised over the years except we start to focus on improtant factors such as kit selection, risk assessments and building to success. The course acts as a great introductory foray into the world of Canicross as you can see loads of kit without getting confused about what to invest in. We have a professional vet scales on site to make sure your dog is a good weight and we are always on hand to help with any questions you may have.

By the end of the course we aim to have you running in a real world environment with a clear understanding of what you and your dog are capable of.
